BCS Visual Arts

Students will take an art class the entire time they are enrolled at Brazos Christian. Our students from pre-k through 12th grade have various different forms of visual art taught to them throughout the years. You can learn more about our visual arts programs below.

Grammar School Art

The goal of Grammar School Art curriculum is to develop creativity, fine motor coordination, observation skills and resourcefulness. Throughout the year, an introduction to different mediums is acquired, and serves as a building block for future art instruction. The introduction to God’s elements of design are presented and explored through cross-curriculum themes and famous artists. These include Line, Shape, Color, Value, Form, Texture, and Space. As students get older, they begin exploring the fine arts through the study of artists past and present and learn to apply design techniques to their own inspired artwork. Each student will have opportunities to create a variety of both two-dimensional and three-dimensional art pieces.

Logic and Rhetoric School Art

For the Logic and Rhetoric School art curriculum, students are presented an introduction to principles and elements of art through a developed understanding of art vocabulary terms and basic art history to understand broad topics as well as artistic movements. Students explore the foundations of art through various techniques, which are then translated into personal pieces of artwork. Rhetoric School students are encouraged to submit their artwork for TAPPS state competitions and their quarters are divided into the following units of study:  Q1 Drawing, Q2 Mixed Media, Q3 Painting, and Q4 Sculpture. Logic School students' units are broken down by semester, with the Fall semester focused on 2D artwork and the Spring semester focused on 3D artwork.
